Plans afoot to build entrepreneurship in the youth: Prime Minister Oli

Kathmandu / Aug 13: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that programs and plans are being formulated to promote youth entrepreneurs in the country.

Speaking at the closing session of the Nepal Youth Summit held here today on the occasion of the International Youth Day, he said that the government is working to increase the pace of development with micro entrepreneurship initiatives and thereby generate more employment for people inside the country.

Expressing concern over the increasing number of youth leaving the country due to lack of employment opportunities, the Prime Minister cautioned that there is a risk of Nepal becoming a country of only senior citizens in the future.

Prime Minister Oli said that currently 20 percent of citizens are below the absolute poverty line and hence poverty should be reduced at the rate of two percent annually. The government’s goal is to end the situation of street children within one year.

Expressing the government’s commitment to implement the declaration passed by the Summit, the Prime Minister said that the declaration will also be reflected in the statement that Nepal will make at the United Nations General Assembly in coming October. RSS
