TRC Bill passed by House of Representatives; We will advance peace process as common achievement: PM Oli

Kathmandu / Aug 14: The House of Representatives has endorsed the Bill related to transitional justice.

In today’s HoR meeting, the proposal presented by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, seeking passage of the Bill related to Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment), 2081’ was passed by a majority of the House.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the peace process will be carried forward as a common achievement.

While addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday, PM Oli said that all parties will proceed with consensus in favor of lasting peace.

Saying that healthy competition is essential in a democracy, he said, “We have brought democracy through struggle, not by insistence. Since it is a system to organize the society, it should be used properly in practical terms.”

He promised that the government will work dedicated to the democratic system, the values of democracy and the welfare of the people.

He mentioned that no stone will be left unturned to curb corruption and bring good governance.

He said that he believed that no one will have a different opinion on promoting democracy as a way of life.

“Attempts by some elements are being made to destroy the society”, He said.

PM Oli said, “Sustainable and durable is only democracy, its system. Denizens have contributed to managing it. We will protect this system. We will protect the country and people.”

He said that reaching the agreement on transitional justice after 18 long years of the peace process is a matter of happiness for all those in favor of peace.

“There was a conflict in our country. We proceed with the peace process. This process is our own homegrown. The process moved forward sometimes in limbo and something with solving the puzzles. We have moved ahead to promote all parties separated from conflict,” said PM Oli.
