NC honors Palesha and her Coach Kabiraj Negi Lama

Kathmandu / Sept 8: The Nepali Congress (NC) has honored Palesha Goverdhan with a cash award of Rs 500,000 for her historic achievement in the Paris Paralympics 2024, where she won a medal for Nepal. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba presented the check during a ceremony.

Additionally, coach Kabiraj Negi Lama received an award of Rs 150,000 in recognition of his contributions.

Earlier on Wednesday, Palesha Goverdhan, alongside her coach, received a grand welcome at the Tribhuvan International Airport, where they were greeted by Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary, NSC Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, NSC Board Member Anjana Shrestha Maske, Taekwondo Olympian Sangina Baidya, Palesha’s parents, national athletes, and a large crowd of supporters.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) also honored Palesha with a cash prize of Rs 500,000, while her coach was awarded Rs 300,000 for their historic achievement.

Taekwondo player Palesha Goverdhan won a historic bronze medal for Nepal at the Paris Paralympics. Palesha won the historic bronze medal for Nepal by defeating the Serbian player in the women’s under 57 kg Taekwondo event under the K-44 category match.
