Former Prime Minister Karki honored with ‘Nagarik Nayak 2083’

Kathmandu / April 24: Nepal Republic Media, the publisher of Nagarik Daily, has awarded the title of ‘Nagarik Nayak-2083’ to former Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The award was presented on the occasion of the organization’s 18th anniversary.

Born on August 29, 1947 in Shankharapur, Morang, she is also Nepal’s first female Chief Justice.

Karki completed her Master’s degree in Law from Tribhuvan University and also studied Political Science in India. She worked as an advocate starting from 2048 BS and was appointed as Nepal’s first female Chief Justice on April 23, 2016.

Known for her fearless, impartial, and assertive nature, Karki is also recognized as an anti-corruption campaigner. Following the Gen Z movement, she was appointed Prime Minister. The government led by Karki successfully conducted elections on March 5.
