Opposition parties obstruct HoR meeting demanding PM’s presence

Kathmandu / May 13: The opposition lawmakers have disrupted the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) demanding presence of Prime Minister Balendra Shah in the HoR meeting.

The opposition lawmakers protested when permission was given to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle to table the proposal on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah for initiating discussion on the government’s policy and programme.

Despite Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal’s repeated calls for the lawmakers to sit and let the meeting continue, they kept standing as a form of protest.

Lawmakers from Sharm Sanskriti Party (SSP) even left the meeting saying that there could be no discussion on the government’s policy and programme until PM Shah joins the meeting.

According to the HoR Regulation, the PM can designate a Minister to respond to the HoR meeting in case the PM is unable to attend the meeting.
