Former Speaker Mahara asked to pay bail of Rs 100,000 over gold smuggling case

Kathmandu / June 1: The special court has ordered former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara to pay a bail of Rs 100,000 in a corruption case related to gold smuggling in electronic cigarettes.
The bench of Special Court Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and member Bidur Koirala slapped the bail amount from Mahara.
Earlier, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case of more than Rs 77.8 million against Mahara and customs officials in the case of gold smuggling hidden carried inside e-cigarettes (vapes).
