Cabinet Makes Six Key Decisions; Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta Appointed Chairperson of Securities Board

Kathmandu / June 19: The government has made a series of significant decisions, including the appointment of Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta as the Chairperson of the Nepal Securities Board and the approval of several replacement bills for presentation in the Federal Parliament.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday decided to appoint Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta, a resident of Kailali, as the Chairperson of the Nepal Securities Board. According to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina, the Cabinet also approved the tabling in the Federal Parliament of a bill aimed at reinstating the previous provisions of the Nepal Special Service Act, 1985.
The Cabinet granted in-principle approval for drafting a bill to amend and consolidate the existing laws related to cooperatives. It also approved, in principle, the drafting of the Savings and Credit Cooperative (Regulation and Supervision) Bill, Minister Timilsina said.
Similarly, the Cabinet approved the presentation in the Federal Parliament of a bill to amend and consolidate laws related to the National Cadet Corps.
The meeting also decided to approve the presentation of four replacement bills in the Federal Parliament. These include bills to amend the Cooperative Act, 2017, the Public Procurement Act, 2007, the Asset (Money Laundering) Prevention Act, 2008, and certain Nepal Acts related to health science academies.
