Burn unit established in 14 federal hospitals

Kathmandu / June 22: Burn treatment unit has been set up at 14 federal hospitals as per the initiation and directives of the Ministry of Health and Food Safety.
Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, shared that burn treatment has been started making easier in most of the hospitals as per government’s 100-point commitment.
Burn treatment service is being provided by allocating fixed number of beds in four provincial hospitals so far. One hundred nine health workers were imparted with one-day special training and six-day training to 217 health workers so far.
Separate burn ward has been established at Kanti Children’s Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Koshi Hospital, Narayani Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, Dadeldhura Hospital, Bheri Hospital, Bir Hospital, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Rapti Academy of Health Sciences.
Similarly, Kirtipur Hospital has also a special unit for treatment of burn injuries. An arrangement of burn treatment ward has been established in 18 hospitals including Dhaulagiri Provincial Hospital, Sankhuwasabha District Hospital, Surkhet-based Provincial Hospital and Hetauda-based Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences.
Spokesperson Dr Adhikari shared that setting up burn unit in existing hospitals is effective rather than establishing a separate burn hospital. RSS
