Final rites of civil society leader Pandey performed

Kathmandu / July 18: The final rites of civil society leader Dr Devendra Raj Pandey were performed earlier today at Pashupati Aryaghat.

Dr Pandey passed away on Friday evening at his residence in Bishalnagar, Kathmandu. He was 87.

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa, Nepali Communist Party leaders Narayankaji Shrestha and Agni Prasad Sapkota, other politicians, civil society leaders, writers and activists were present at Pashupati Aryaghat.

Nepali Communist Party leader Shrestha said that Dr Pandey had unparalleled contributions to the nation’s democratization process and transformation.

Earlier in a message of condolences, NC President Thapa stated that Dr Pandey gave a new perspective to the debate on the country’s economy, public administration and development. RSS
