Finance Minister urges overseas to invest confidently in Nepal

Kathmandu / Aug 15: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has called on Nepalis living abroad to confidently explore investment opportunities in Nepal.

Delivering a video message to the 11th Asia Pacific Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), which kicked off in Guangzhou of China today, the Minister called on overseas Nepalis to invest in the country, particularly in tourism, information technology (IT), green energy, and high-value agricultural products.

“The government is gradually creating an investment-friendly atmosphere and fostering conditions conducive to employment within the country,” he said, adding that policy- level strategies have been introduced to promote opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and IT.

“That’s why I urge overseas Nepalis to invest in Nepal with confidence,” he said.

According to him, the government is working to create a more investment-friendly environment by introducing 27 new laws through the budget. He added that creating decent employment opportunities remains one of the government’s key priorities.

He said the government has also reformed the tax system to increase the state’s revenue, claiming that the budget helped steer the economic governance in a new direction. “The first year of the reform process has just begun.” RSS
