KCC signs MoU with FNJ for providing scholarship to journalists
Kathmandu / Dec. 27: Kantipur City College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Federation of Nepalese Journalists Corporate Province Committee for providing scholarship to the journalists studying Mass Communications and Journalism in the college.
As per the MoU signed today by Chairperson of FNJ Corporate Province Committee Bal Krishna Adhikari and Programme Coordinator of Journalism Department of the College Rajeev Timelsena five journalists recommended by the committee will receive scholarships for studying Masters in Mass Communications and Journalism at the college.
The MoU shall be valid for three years and the college, which is pioneer in media education in Nepal, will provide 65 % scholarship to three students and 50 % scholarship to two students at the recommendation of the FNJ Corporate Province Committee.
The committee will seek application for scholarship for interested journalists associated with the committee and will recommend for scholarship. General Secretary of the Committee Raj Kumar Shahi informed that they will prioritize students with weak economic situation and deprived sector.
Chairperson of the committee Adhikari recalled that he was also the student of the college and it is his pleasure to initiate efforts for providing media education to deserving students, which he believes, would help to enhance the quality of education.
Director of the College Mina Khatri expressed that the collaboration would contribute for enhancing quality of journalism. Similarly, principal of the college Raju Kattel informed that the collaboration would be able to spread positive message in the community. He further added that the college is happy to collaborate with FNJ for providing ICT related trainings to journalists.
