New policy in the offing ensuring 10 per cent of income to the parents

Bhaktapur / June 1: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagawati Chaudhary has said that the government was introducing a policy with a mandatory provision of providing at least 10 per cent of income to the parents by their offspring.

Speaking at an event organized on the 20th establishment day of Community Development and Service Centre and Community Police Service Centre Gatthaghar on Saturday, Minister Chaudhary mentioned that such a policy will be implemented after the amendment of the Senior Citizens Act and Regulations.

She argued that the policy was being introduced as many senior citizens were found neglected by their children.

The Minister added that the sons and daughters should contribute at least 10 per cent of their income to the parents whether the income was generated from formal or informal sectors.

According to Minister Chaudhary, such a policy will be mandatorily implemented once the bill related to this effect is endorsed by the parliament. RSS
