538 bodies retrieved, 977 missing, 3,742 rescued

Kathmandu / Aug. 28: As many as 538 bodies of the victims of the Bhotekoshi flash flood have been recovered till 3 pm Friday, according to the national disaster risk reduction and management authority (NDRRMA).

The NDRRMA said 977 were still missing while 3,742 people were rescued so far.

The flash flood that occurred Wednesday morning caused unprecedented loss of lives and properties.

14,829 security personnel have been deployed for the search and rescue operation.

Of the 538 retrieved- 12 were recovered from Rasuwa, 37 from Nuwakot, 33 from Dhading, 46 from Gorakha, 134 from Nawalparasi Purba, 27 from Nawalparasi Paschim, 28 from Tanahu and 221 from Chitwan.
