Over 70 Senior Citizens Benefit from Free Health Camp and awareness session Organized by Pustantaran Nepal

Kathmandu / Sept. 06: More than 70 senior citizens benefited from a free health, psychosocial, and dental camp organized by Pustantaran Nepal in Bishalnagar, Kathmandu, today.
The health camp, organized in collaboration with Himal Dental Hospital and Interplast Nepal, provided senior citizens with access to basic health screening, dental check-ups, and psychosocial counselling. A geriatric doctor and trained health professionals provided health consultations, while certified counsellors offered psychosocial support to participants.
The programme also included an awareness session on burn prevention and safety, recognizing the particular vulnerability of older people to household accidents and burn-related injuries. Participants were provided with practical information on preventing burns and responding appropriately in case of an incident.
Health professionals attending the camp observed that high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar levels were among the common health concerns identified during the screening. Participants requiring further psychosocial support were also identified for follow-up counselling and support from Pustantaran Nepal.
Senior citizens attending the camp will also have access to specialized health services at discounted rates through health facilities with which Pustantaran Nepal has established partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
Pustantaran Nepal has been organizing regular health and psychosocial camps in coordination with local governments and other partners to promote the health, wellbeing and dignity of senior citizens.
“Pustantaran Nepal is always standing with senior citizens and is committed to promoting dignified aging in Nepal,” said Pratibedan Baidya, Chairperson of Pustantaran Nepal.
“Through such free health camps, we are able to raise awareness about the health and psychosocial needs of older people while connecting them with necessary services. We are also providing affordable services through our centre and home-based care. Our commitment is to promote dignified aging rather than profit,” Baidya said.
Pustantaran Nepal is working to promote dignified and active aging in Nepal through health, day-care and home-care services for senior citizens. The organization provides health care, psychosocial counselling and other support services, with a particular focus on improving access to affordable and age-friendly services.
With Nepal’s population gradually moving towards an aging society, Pustantaran Nepal emphasizes the need for stronger systems and services for older people. The organization is also providing special discounts and support to people affected by the recent floods, Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs), and Nepali expatriates and their families.
The organization aims to expand access to age-friendly health and care services while promoting a society where senior citizens can age with dignity, remain active and continue to contribute their knowledge and experience to their families and communities.
