Voting for New Nepali Congress Leadership to Begin Thursday Morning

Kathmandu / Oct. 7: Voting to elect the new Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday as part of the party’s 15th General Convention.

A total of 7,255 delegates participating in the convention will cast their ballots to elect the party’s next leadership.

Prem Bahadur Khadka, coordinator of the Central Election Committee and senior advocate, said voting had originally been scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. Thursday but was delayed by three hours due to rainfall and technical issues.

According to Khadka, seven polling centers at three locations in Kathmandu have been designated for the election. Separate polling centers have been arranged based on provinces and delegates’ representation to facilitate voting.

The Election Committee has designated polling centers at Rastriya Sabha Griha, Khulamanch and Nepal Academy (Pragya Bhawan).

Representatives from Bagmati Province will vote at Rastriya Sabha Griha.

Similarly, delegates from Koshi, Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will vote at Khulamanch. Delegates representing the party’s sister and affiliated organizations, as well as those from Nepali Congress overseas liaison committees, will also cast their ballots at Khulamanch.

Polling centers at Pragya Bhawan have been designated for delegates from Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

Delegates will be required to vote at the polling center assigned to their respective province or category.

The Election Committee has also made arrangements to verify each delegate’s identity and check their name against the voter list before allowing them to cast their ballot.
