NC President Gagan Thapa pledges to include defeated and non-contesting leaders

Kathmandu / Oct 16: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has pledged to bring qualified leaders who lost the party’s internal elections or did not contest into the party’s organizational work.
Speaking at an event organized by the Nepal Professionals Campaign Council in Kathmandu on Friday, Thapa said their involvement would be important in making the party’s Central Working Committee more effective.
He said internal elections should not be treated as a contest in which winners gain everything and losers lose everything. Although competition is a natural part of internal democracy, he stressed the need to unite capable leaders in the party’s interest.
Thapa acknowledged that several qualified leaders who could have contributed to the Central Working Committee had been left out, either because they did not contest or failed to win. He pledged to involve them in party activities through collective leadership and cooperation.
He also said the party would soon move forward with completing its organizational structure, stressing that unity and collaboration across factions were essential to prevent divisions following the internal elections.
