Nepal make good start in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier with victory over PNG

Nepali Cricket teamKathmandu / October 15: Nepal kicked off a good start as the national cricket team smashed Papua New Guinea by nine wickets in its first match under the ICC-U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

The Nepali team, which chose to field first after winning the toss, managed to achieve the meager 49 run target given by Papua New Guinea, in 9.1 overs at the loss of one wicket. Papua New Guinea had managed to make 48 runs at all-out in 28. 2 overs.

In the match, Nepali player Sunil Dhamala made 24 runs while Yogendra contributed 16. Likewise, Sandip Sunuwar made four runs.

Likewise, Sunil Dhamala took five wickets, Aarif Shekh three and Sushil Kandel claimed one wicket.

Nepal will take on Uganda in its second match on Friday. Nepal, the United States of America, Ireland, Uganda and Papua New Guinea have taken part in the tournament. The winner of the qualifier will make it to the U19 World Cup Championship to be held in Bangladesh next year. RSS
