Treason cases filed against players implicated in match fixing

Nepali-footballers-arrested-on-charge-of-match-fixingKathmandu / November 08: Police on Sunday filed treason cases at the Special Court, Kathmandu against the five football players who were arrested on the charge of match fixing.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police filed cases against each player in accordance with the Clause 3(1) of the Crime against the State Penalty Act, 2046.

A crime section staff at the court informed journalists that the court procedures will commence from 10 am tomorrow due to shortage of time today.

Police on October 14 arrested the former captain of the national football team Sagar Thapa, vice captain Sandip Rai, goalkeeper Ritesh Thapa and former players Anjan KC and Bikash Singh Chhetri on the charge of match fixing in international matches Nepal played by taking millions. RSS
