Police in Florida called out to deal with some monkey business
November 14: The police in all countries are often called upon to deal with emergencies of all descriptions, but we imagine that calling the emergency number and requesting that they deal with a monkey eating the mail from the box is a rarity.
Now dealing with “monkey business” involving members of the public is probably an everyday occurrence, but when it involves a member of the animal kingdom they are probably less well equipped and untrained to do.
So when the anxious caller dialled 911 to report that a monkey was sitting on top of a mailbox eating the mail, the Sanford force swung into action. When they arrived the monkey was happily sitting on a street sign, no doubt digesting the residents mail, the police used a water bottle to coax the primate down and toward their patrol car.
It certainly worked, but to the dismay of the officers it climbed onto the car and started pulling off the moulding. Fortunately the monkey had been spotted by a man who turned out to be its owner and came to the rescue of the patrol car. The naughty money was identified as being called “Zeek” we are not aware whether Zeek or its owner received a caution, but delighted officers posted photographs and videos of the incident onto Facebook.
Dealing with a pesky monkey has to be better than facing a gunman we imagine, how did they write that up in the incident book? (Agencies)
