Seventh National Sports Tournament put off for March next year
Kathmandu / November 16:The date for the Seventh National Sports Tournament has been postponed.
The National Sports Council (NSC) has decided to hold the national tournament on March 1-6 next year. The 104th NSC Board meeting Monday presided over by Minister for Youth and Sports and NSC Chair Santya Narayan Mandal agreed to change the tournament date the same day.
Earlier, the national tournament was scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 4 this year. The eastern region has been chosen the venue for holding the seventh national sports championship.
The NSC said that it decided to postpone the date for the national tournament realizing that the event on the pre-scheduled date was not possible due to various problems prevailing in the country.
Likewise, the meeting decided to constitute a preparation and participation committee under the coordination of NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista to make arrangements for the country’s participation in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Guhawati and Shillong India on February 6-16 next year.
Nepal will be participating in different sports disciplines including Taekwondo, athletics, table tennis, triathlon, swimming, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, weight-lifting and shooting in the 12th SAG being hosted by India.
Besides, the NSC Board meeting decided to prepare a draft of the estimated budget to enable participation in the SAG and submit it to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.RSS
