Waiting stand constructed in memory of disappeared

missing peopleBaglung / January 7: The families of those enforced disappeared in the past armed conflict have constructed a waiting stand in memory of their missing members.

The kins of the disappeared have come up with the construction of stand on the premises of Baglung Kalika Temple to commemorate their missing family members and pressure the state to search for the disappeared.

The waiting stand was set up with the initiative and investment of 26 disappeared’ families of Dhawalagiri zone, said Society of Disappeared Families Chairperson Jashoda Sharma.

It was constructed at the total cost of Rs 639,000 raised through the financial assistance of Rs 200,000 from International Red Cross and aid and loan from family members of the missing.

A stone-carved names of 26 enforced disappeared has been kept in the waiting stand.

It is expected that the work will impart a posititve message when the state is not seriously responding to the demands of the families of the missing. RSS
