NA distributes relief material to quake-victims

Nepalese ArmyKathmandu / January 12: In a bid to give respite to the quake-victims in various worst-affected areas, the Nepal Army (NA) personnel on Tuesday distributed some warm clothes and food items.

One in every 10 houses in the country was damaged by the April 25 earthquake, according to the World Bank. The quake claimed the lives of around 9,000 persons and left scores of injured, standing at around 20,000.

As many as 500 households at Larpak-5 in Gorkha district, 600 at Lapilang-6 in Dolakha district and similar number of households at Salme in Nuwakot were made available the relief materials, according to the NA’s Directorate of Public Relations.

Similarly, a total of 700 households at Ghalegaun in Lamjung district were also benefited by the relief. Many quake-hit households in these localities residing in temporary shelters were hit hard by biting cold following the snowfall.

The NA has already dispatched more than 1,200 blankets and 600 tarpaulin sheets to Dolakha for distribution among the quake-victims, it was shared. Similar relief materials have already reached out to other hardest hit districts. The government declared 14 districts as the worst-affected ones following the disaster.
