Norwegian man rides snowmobile on water for 131 miles
March 11: A Norwegian daredevil set out to break an unusual world record when he took his snowmobile for a 131-mile trip on the surface of a river.
A video posted to YouTube by Jan Helmer Olsen shows daredevil Morten Blien taking his Polaris RMK 800 snowmobile for a four hour drive last year on the waters of the Karasjok and Tana River in Finnmark, Norway.
Blien made it a distance of 131.7 miles before his snowmobile suffered a mechanical failure and ended up submerged in the river.
Olsen said Blien fell short of his goal, 152 miles, but bested the world record of 112 miles, which was set by Antti Holmberg.
Olsen said Blien’s run might be ineligible for a Guinness record because he did not take his snowmobile on land before or after his attempt. UPI
