‘To be nationalist is to connect nation and society’: Dr Yadav

president-ram-baran-yadavBiratnagar / March 17: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said the people from hill, mountain and southern plains need to be taken together ahead for developing the country.

At a programme organized to mark the 5th anniversary of the ‘New Sristi’ daily here Thursday, the former President suggested the Madhes-based political parties that they acted in line with the democratic values while the government became tolerant and the big political parties took all into confidence. It would help seek solution to the present problems, he argued.

“To be nationalist is to connect nation and society. All those with different costumes are Nepalis, their unity is imperative to build the nation,” he said, adding that time has come to translate the constitutional provisions as inclusivity and proportional representation into action.

On the occasion, the former President conferred the ‘New Sristi Daily Man of the Year’ award to former minister for general administration Lal Babu Pandit.

Former minister Pandit was honoured in his recognition to the activities during his stint in government that banned the civil servants from taking double facilities being a government official and the one holding foreign ID at the same time.

Moreover, linguist Bal Krishna Pokhrel and litterateur Balram Pokhrel were honoured with the cash prizes of Rs 11,111. RSS
