Biplop-Maoist cadres attack World Vision’s office

World VisionNuwakot / June 12: The World Vision International Nepal’s District Office at Nuwakot came under attack last night.

Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplop’ led CPN Maoist has taken responsibility for the attack which took place at 12:30 am. A group of three set fire on a vehicle parked within the premises of World Vision Office at Battar area of Bidur Municipality – 4.

According to eye witness and security guard, Tul Bahadur Pyakurel, three unidentified persons entered the office from the front gate and threatened him with life before setting the vehicle ablaze. The three said they were cadres of Biplop led CPN Maoist.

Pyakurel added that they had threatened to kill him if he made any noise. The vehicle continued to burn for 45 minutes before the fire was taken under control with help of a fire engine, a local Shiva Prasad Adhikari said.

The fire also spread to the building with people inside. The people living at second and third floors of the building were rescued by police and neighbours after an hour.

A ladder was placed urgently on the roof of the building to allow the residents to escape, according to Krishna Prasad Adhikari, owner of the building.

The fire destroyed the windows, but the documents are secure, World Vision’s Devendra Prasad Gurung said.

The Biplop led CPN Maoist leader in Nuwakot today confirmed that his party launched the attack. The leader refused to explain the reasons behind the attack. Earlier the party had attacked the Office of Save the Children in Sindhupalchowk. RSS
