NHRC outcry against gang rape on dumb, seeks investigations

NHRCKathmandu / June 16: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has condemned the gang rape of a mentally retarded woman of Naudihawa of Shivaraj Municipality in Kapilvastu district and sought stern action against the perpetrators.

The NHRC in its press statement Thursday demanded the government identify the culprits, take stern action against them and make arrangement for free medical treatment of the rape survivor. A group of the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel is allegedly involved in the crime.

Likewise, Nepal National Federation of the Deaf submitted a memorandum to the NHRC, calling for action against the guilty.

The NHRC has sent letter to the Office of Attorney General, Nepal Police Headquarters and the APF Headquarters, seeking effective investigation into the case.

They have been requested to provide the findings of investigations to the NHRC. RSS
