Nine-fold applications registered for taxi number plates
Kathmandu / Aug 18: The number of application seeking taxi number plates, that the government had decided to allocate to the earthquake survivors from fourteen districts, have been registered nine times more than the quota.
Chief of the Transport Management Office, Bagamati, Tilak Poudel informed that a total of 131,000 applications were registered at the office, which is nine times more than the amount the government had decided to provide to the people from the 14 districts which suffered worst during the last year’s earthquake.
Earlier, the government had provided 1,800 number plates for taxi through a lottery. It was the distribution of taxi number plates opened in 14 years’ gap.
For the second time, the government is providing 1500 number plates. The most affected districts are Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Kavre, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and three from the Kathmandu Valley.
One, possessing the quake victim identity card, can apply for the number plates till coming Sunday, added Mr Poudel. RSS
