Art crosses borders

kathmandu-exhibitionKathmandu / Aug 19: The B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized the ‘Ramayana Circuit Art Workshop’ in Janakpur to promote the sister city relationship between Ayodhya-Janakpur and Banaras-Kathmandu.

The two day long workshop saw participation of five Indian and seven Nepali artists, including eminent Nepali artist Ragani Upadhyaya.

The paintings were mostly derived from Mithila and Madhubani style and depicted the theme from the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Having attracted many art lovers and collectors in Janakpur, a final exhibition was put on at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on August 15 to mark the celebration of India’s Independence Day.
