LBRC task force asked to submit report at the earliest

Kathmandu / Feb 9: Five major political parties have directed the taskforce formed to study Local Body Restructuring Commission’s report and suggest the government regarding the document to the government at the earliest.

The task force is expected to look after complaints over the report and give suggestions about it to the government.

During the discussions with five political parties at the Singha Durbar today, the task force was told to finalise the report as soon as possible, according to its coordinator and Minister for Federal Affairs and Development Hitraj Pandey.

The parties were informed of the preparations of the taskforce to provide suggestions after holding discussion on the report on February 12, 13 and 14 with Members of Parliament from Province-2, he added.

Delivering his view at the meeting, Vice Chairman of main opposition CPN-UML Bhim Rawal cast doubt over the holding of the elections. “The ruling political parties are themselves divided on whether to go for the elections before passing the constitution amendment proposal” he said.

Likewise, ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed that the taskforce has been asked to provide suggestions on the report and the government would take proper decisions accordingly.

The meeting was also attended Maoist Centre Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress leader and Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa and leader of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) Jitendra Dev.

The task force formed under the leadership Minister Pandey has been given 15 days to study and provide suggestions on the report. Its members are Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi and Minister for Supply Dipak Bohara. RSS
