Visually impaired KC sets eye on Mt Everest

MountaineerMyagdi / Feb 27: Amit KC, 32, of Sarkuwa VDC-2 of Baglung district is preparing to scale the highest peak of the world, Mt Everest. KC who holds a Masters degree in Sociology is now ready to summit the peak after getting permission from the government.

He shared that he had got the permission to scale Mt Everest and his journey for the same will begin from April 2 which will conclude on June 10.

KC added that the disability was not the weakness to overcome any challenges and it would be a great chance for him to blow his courage.

He has claimed that he would be the first one to scale the world’s highest peak from Nepal if he was successful in it. According him, US citizen Erik Weihenmayer who was also blind had reached up to 8,000 metres of the 8848-metre-tall mountain.

Earlier, KC has scaled Iceland Peak (6,186m) and Mera Peak (6,654m) last year as the preparations to set the journey to scale the highest peak.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has supported Rs 500,000 to KC and has announced compensation in different royalties to be charged for Everest summiteers.

KC has further urged the helping hands to support his mission as it needs about Rs 10 million. RSS
