“Stop vehicular movement in night time on Mugling-Narayanghat road”

Narayangadh Mugling HighwayKathmandu / July 4: Development Committee of the Parliament instructed the government and concerned government authorities to stop vehicular movement on the Mugling-Narayanghat road in night time for at least next one and half months.

The committee on Tuesday took the decision after the sub-committee formed to monitor the road construction project submitted its report to the committee. The committee has also asked the government to make arrangement for alternative vehicular movement and more safety arrangement.

The committee also instructed the government to ask the concerned construction project to carry forward the construction works in the night time also. It has also asked the government to either relocate some settlements on the road section to some other place or to adopt any other alternative since they are found under serious threat of disaster.

The committee also instructed the government, concerned authorities and the project to complete the expansion and construction of the Muglin-Narayangadh road within 2017. Stating that the project should have been completed by the month of April, the committee said that it found only 50 percent of the total construction works is only completed by June last.

The committee has also instructed the government to take short-term and long-term preventive measures to avoid chaos created by landslides and floods on various road sections.

A team of the committee had visited Mugling-Narayangadh road section last week and monitored the progress on expansion and construction works.
