RPP to support the constitution amendment proposal
Kathmandu / July 21:The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is to support the constitution amendment proposal registered at the Legislature-Parliament.
The party central working committee (CWC) meeting that ran for three days from Wednesday took a decision to this effect.
The meeting, deciding to adjust the party organizations at all 744 local levels, handed the responsibility of taking a decision on whether to join the government to its central work execution committee.
The party concluded that its defeat in the local-level election was due to inability to take the party agenda to the every local unit effectively.
The meeting demanded the government to print the image of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, on currency notes so as to ‘promote’ the feeling of national unity among the Nepalis.
Endorsing the political report presented by party chair Kamal Thapa, report on the comments of the local-level election by general secretary Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan and the report on party organisational structure and future strategy tabled by party another general secretary Jayant Chand, it has constituted an election mobilization committee for the Province 2 under the convenorship of party vice chair Buddhiman Tamang.
However, party senior leader Pashupati Shamser Rana abstained throughout the meeting.
The meeting, pledging to establish party principles in line with the constitution at the backdrop of the country’s main law adopting the worldwide democratic practices, stated that the party would play a crucial role to hold the parliament and provincial elections on time.
Wishing for speedy recovery of ailing former King Gyanendra Shah, the party has demanded an old-age allowance to citizens above 60 years of age.
The meeting also decided to form the Religion and Culture Council for the establishment of Nepal as a Hindu nation and for the protection of the religions as Bauddha and Kirat which fall under what is called the ‘Omkar Family’ of religions.
Making public the decisions taken by the meeting, party chairman Kamal Thapa reiterated that the party would participate in the upcoming elections as a united block by addressing the dissatisfactions and the differing views seen in the party. RSS
