Demand for monastery reconstruction

BuddhaKathmandu / Aug 30:The Earthquake-affected Monastery Reconstruction Struggle Committee on Tuesday demanded immediate reconstruction of the Buddhist monasteries and shrines damaged during the April 2015 earthquake.

At a press conference held yesterday, Sanubabu Lama, Coordinator of the committee shared that 993 monasteries in 25 districts were damaged in the earthquake, arguing that they should be reconstructed as soon as possible.

Lama expressed his concern over the failure of government to appropriate the funds as of yet since about Rs 9 billion was pledged for the reconstruction of monasteries during the international conference held by the government.RSS
