Nepal suffer another loss as UAE register 63-run win

Nepal CricketKathmandu / Dec 8: Nepal suffered another loss as UAE registered a 63-run win in the final round matches of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) on Friday.

With the loss, Nepal will sit at the seventh spot in the eight-team table.

In the match played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Nepal invited UAE to bat first and bundled them out for 195 runs in 49.2 overs.

Chasing the target of 196 runs, Nepal made a disastrous start and were restricted in 132 runs in 42.2 overs.

Though Sompal Kami of Nepal took five wickets, it was not sufficient to dominate the opponent.

Andan Mufti of UAE scored highest 104 runs off 89 balls hitting eight sixes and three fours. Kami bowled him in 47 overs.

Skipper Paras Khadka, Sandip Lamichhane, Lalit Bhandari and Sagar Pun of Nepal claim one wicket each.

Gyanendra Malla scored highest 42 runs off 90 balls and Binod Bhandari made 25 runs of 30 balls hitting one four and one six for Nepal.

Similarly, Sharad Bheswakar, who had scored 81 runs of 95 balls in the previous match, contributed only 13 runs of 30 balls for the team while Khadka made 10 runs of 15 balls.

Likewise, Pun and Arif Sheikh scored 21 runs of 43 balls and 14 runs of 25 balls respectively.

Moreover, Kami and Basanta Regmi failed to open their accounts.

Earlier on Wednesday, Nepal had lost to UAE by seven wickets.

Nepal will play against Kenya, UAE, Namibia, Oman and Canada in the World Cricket League Division 2 in February.

The top two teams of the Division 2 will be selected for the world cup to be held in Zimbabwe in March.
