Rural municipality adds 2,000 rupees for new mothers

Local StructureSolukhumbu / Feb 10: The Mahakulung rural municipality is providing an additional Rs. 2,000 incentive to mothers going to a recognized health institute for delivery.

Accordingly, any woman going to health centres for child birth will receive a total of Rs. 3,500 including the 1,500 rupees provided by the government. The new provision has been made to encourage mothers to go to health centres for delivery, thereby securing the life of both mother and child, health coordinator of the rural municipality Hari Prasad Acharya said.

The Mahakulung rural municipality that is made of erstwhile Cheskam, Bung and Gudel has three health posts with a birthing centre in Gudel health post only. Efforts are being made to run birthing centres in Cheskam and Bung as well, the rural municipality chair Sagar Kiranti said.

Prior to this, the Thulung Dudhkoshi rural municipality also decided increase the maternity allowance including Rs. 5,000 for those coming to a hospital and Rs. 3,500 for those coming to birthing centres for delivery. RSS
