Senior communist leader Adhikari’s health condition worsens

Kathmandu / Mar 01: The health condition of Former Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, who is undergoing treatment at Dhumbarahi-based HAMS Hospital, has further worsened, his aide said on Friday.

Adhikari’s aide Mahesh Bista told media that the ailing leader has been put on ventilator support for the past 15 days. “His health condition has further worsened since Thursday,” Bista said.

Amid Adhikari’s worsening health condition, his daughters are coming back home from abroad.

Earlier, Adhikari was admitted to Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in Mediciti hospital in Lalitpur. The 82-year-old leader was taken to Mediciti following pulmonary complications on January 16.

Adhikari, who went on to become the country’s finance minister twice, retired from the active politics in 2014. Adhikari is a veteran communist leader. He was affiliated with the then Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Lenninist) until 2014.
