Covid-19 caseload surges to 10,099 with 538 new cases; 2,224 cases of recovery

Kathmandu / June 23: The Ministry of Health and Population has confrimed new cases of COVID-19 today.

As many as 538 persons, 448 males and 90 females, were identified with SARS-CoV-2 infection in the last 24 hours, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in district such as Jhapa, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Terhathum, Mahottari, Achham, Arghakhanchi, Baglung, Bajhang, Bajura, Dadeldhura, Dhading, Gorkha, Gulmi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Parbat, Pyuthan, Rautahat, Rupandehi, Sarlahi, Siraha, Syangja, Tanahun, Dhanusha, Lamjung, Palpa, Dang, Salyan, Surkhet, Dailekh, Humla and Kalikot.

Meanwhile, 76 COVID-19 patients, 68 males and eight females, receiving treatment at Gothgaun Isolation, Jhapa, Koshi Hospital, Jhapa, BPKIHS, Ramechhap Hospital, Sai Krishna Isolation Center, Gandaki Hospital, COVID-19 Command Hospital, Balambu, Beni Hospital, Dhaulagiri Hospital, Syangja District Hospital, Gorkha District Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Kalika Hospital, Patan Hospital and Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences have been discharged after recovering from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, a 45-year old COVID-19 patient of Dullu Municipality, Dailekh, who was receiving treatment at Surkhet Provincial Hospital died on Monday evening.

The deceased was a tuberculosis patient and was under medication for the same for more than two years. He had visited the hospital on June 17 for treatment. He tested positive for the virus on June 18. He was immediately shifted to isolation.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 10,099, including 2,224 cases of recovery and 24 death cases.
