Belina Thapa / Lamjung, Mar. 12: Krishne Sarki, aged 69 from Pakhurichowk, Madhya Nepal Municipality-2, Lamjung became the first person to receive citizenship at his own home which is the newly launched campaign of the municipality.

Krishna Prasad Sharma, Chief District Officer, himself went to the doorstep of Sarki to hand over him his citizenship. CDO Sharma said, “Because of being paralysed, Sarki is unable to commute to the municipality on his own so he was handed over with the citizenship at his doorstep.”

“We decided to give him his citizenship by visiting his home after receiving the information that Sarki has lost his original citizenship and he is in dire need of that” said CDO Sharma. The birth date of Sarki on his citizenship is February 24, 1952.

“We have been facilitating the aged, unable, helpless, and differently able people by giving them their citizenship at their own home because of their difficulties for mobility. Not everyone can come to the administration office so we have started this door-to-door service in a feasible time to provide them with comfort” he added.

“We have been moving forward to collect the details and data from each local level of the aged, helpless, and differently able people, said the CDO, assuring that those in dire need and listed in priorities will be provided with the citizenship at their doorstep.”

He said that no residents of Lamjung district will be deprived of their rights to citizenship. He has even urged those who get excluded from the service to contact the administration.

Padam Thapa, Chairman of ward-2 of Madhya Nepal Municipality, said that Krishne Sarki who is son of Jire Sarki has been suffering from paralysis. The right side of his body is immovable, so to provide him with the comfort, he was handed with the citizenship.
