Constitution implementation possible only with solid unity and collaboration

Chitwan / October 12: District leaders of various political parties in Chitwan have underscored the need for three major parties to propel unity for the effective implementation of the newly-promulgated constitution despite polarization surfaced in a vote to elect new Prime Minister of the country.

Responding to the ascent of CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli to the prime ministerial post, they stressed that the Nepali Congress should play effective opposition role for the successful implementation of the constitution promulgated under its leadership.

The unity and collaboration among the three major parties is an equally pressing in coming days to institutionalize the achievements made possible through consensus politics in the past, they added.

Nepali Congress (NC) Chitwan President Tek Prasad Gurung suggested the NC central leadership to discharge supportive role in enforcing the constitution framed under its leadership. NC is a decisive force for two-third majority, he said, adding that the party should act as a strong opposition to take the country to the path of economic prosperity.

CPN-UML Chitwan Chairperson Jagannath Thapaliya said that win and lose is obvious in democratic practice suggesting NC to lend support to the government from the opposition front. The newly-elected Prime Minister should take NC on board in addressing the pile-up of problems facing the country, he added.

Likewise, Maoist leaders noted that the NC role is important in institutionalizing constitutional achievement of Nepal which was possible through collaboration and unity among the three parties.

UCPN (Maoist) Chitwan Chairperson Yam Bahadur Pariyar said the unity among the pro-nationalist force would only steer the country to prosperity so that the major political parties should showcase the collective strength in post-constitution period.

Chief of Birendra Multiple Campus, Bharatpur Dr Keshav Bhakta Sapkota said that the current circumstance is not normal so that the political powers inside and outside the government should work in tandem to bail the country out of crisis.

Advisor to Intellectual Council Chitwan Prof Kapil Subedi said that the involvement of Madhes-based parties in election process accepting the new constitutional provisions is a welcoming move. RSS
