Constitution can be amended as per people’s will: Speaker Nembang

Subash NewangKathmandu / October 14: Speaker of the Legislature-Parliament Subas Nembang on Tuesday said that the new constitution could be amended in line with people’s will.

Speaking at a programme organized by CPN (UML) Rasuwa-Kathmandu Liaison Forum, Speaker Nembang said the constitution is inclusive and proportional.

He termed the move of the Madhes-centric parties to join the constitution making process through the parliament as positive. “It is usual for victory and losses to emerge in election, but it is a good thing when parties agitating in the streets decide to join the parliament and vote,” he added.

He added that the constitution endorsed by 85 per cent and in presence of 89 per cent of lawmakers was comparatively better in view of constitutions made in other countries.

On the occasion, CPN (UML) Standing Committee member Chabilal Bishwokarma pointed out that implementation of the new constitution was more important than its promulgation. He added that the contribution of the people was significant in constitution making as is the case with the political leaders.

Forum Chairperson Kargelmo Shrestha termed the achievement of the second Constituent Assembly in drafting the new constitution a ‘historic’ one. RSS
