CIAA to carry out regular monitoring of TIA services to address passengers’ concerns

CIAAKathmandu / December 14: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) is to carry out regular monitoring of the services of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in its attempt to address the complaints of service recipients.

The CIAA has received serious complaints about the services that TIA is providing to its service recipients, causing inconveniences to them. The CIAA earlier too drew attention of the country’s sole international airport authorities towards that end, but no improvement in its services has been seen despite commitments from the TIA management, according to Spokesperson for the Commission Krishnahari Puskar.

Two squads will be assigned to carry out regular monitoring of TIA services for a month from December 16, he said.

Discomforts facing passengers at airport, lack of cooperation among the service providing bodies, mismanagement of VVIP longue, tardy process during arrival and departure time, unavailability of drinking water, rude behavours of airport employees, negligence on the part of security personnel, smuggling reportedly taking place via the airport, lack of cleanliness of rest rooms are among the complaints received by the CIAA regarding TIA services, it is learnt.

TIA is ranked among the worst airport in Asia and among top 10 worst airports in the world. Recently, Minister for Culture and Tourism has taken initiation to improve the quality of airport and making frequent trip to airport to monitor the progress of his reform plan. RSS
