Rs 78.9 million given to quake-hit in Tanahun; Woman donates Rs 900,000 for establishing library

disasterDamauli / December 15: The District Administration Office (DAO), Tanahun, has distributed a total of Rs 78.9 million to the quake-hit 5,648 households in the district.

Chief District Officer Mahadev Pantha said that the DAO provided the cash to 3,706 households while Nepal Red Cross Society Tanahun chapter handed over the amount to 1,942 households.

Pantha said that the quake victims receiving ‘red card’ were provided with Rs 15,000 amount in assistance.

Likewise, families of 13 persons out of 14 permanent residents from the district who lost their lives in the April 25 devastating earthquake have received Rs 100,000 each in compensation.

The DAO said that the families suffering partial damages of their houses would also be given relief soon.

Meanwhile, a woman currently residing in the USA has donated RS 900,000 for the establishment of a library in Narayanghat, Chitwan. Maushami Shrestha made such philanthropic contribution for the establishment of a library at Bal Kumar Higher Secondary School.

Currently, 2,000 books are kept in the state-of-the-art library that has the capacity of keeping as high as 5,000 books. The library was built with the coordination of Narayanghat Jaycees. RSS
