Counseling to aspirant women migrants in Ilam

Ilam / December 15: The International Labour Organisation (ILO) and District Development Committee (DDC) have launched a programme for safer labour migration of women in Ilam district.

The programme entitled ‘Work in Freedom’ is implemented in two municipalities and 13 VDCs targetting the aspirant and returnee women migrant workers, programme coordinator Rabindra Prasad Shrestha said.

It is said that the women would be informed about the safety measures at work, preparation of documents before heading for foreign jobs and others in regard to the safer labour migration. Likewise, 30 women social mobilisers have been trained for disseminating information about the same.

Representative of ILO Chadani Rana said that the facilitators would offer best counselling to the women for safer migration by reaching to villages.

Shrestha said that ILO has signed an agreement to launch a one-year programme for safer migration, offering Rs 2.5 million. RSS
