Ilam / December 19: Senior leader of CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has said that the reconstruction authority to oversee the reconstruction of the quake-hit properties would be constituted soon after the passing of the reconstruction bill from the Legislature-Parliament.

Talking briefly to RSS this morning in Ilam, Khanal said that the reconstruction tasks would be started immediately after forming the authority adding that the earthquakes and blockade imposed from India have badly affected the life in the country.

Saying that the government was serious to the demands of the Madhes-centric parties, Khanal revealed that talks were on with the Madhes-centric parties regarding the constitution amendment.

All political parties should be united to face the current challenges of the country, the former prime minister said.

Likewise, Khanal argued that the new constitution was an exemplary one in the world as it has truly represented the aspirations of all regions and communities.

“Issues should be resolved through the parliament if there are grievances. Country should not be pushed towards difficulties by staging protests in the border points,” he urged the agitating parties.

During his week-long stay in the district, Khanal is expected to inspect the development projects and other activities in Ilam. RSS
