Cricketer Lamichhane sentenced to jail for 8yrs on rape case; Lamichhane to challenge verdict at High Court

Kathmandu / Jan 10: Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been sentenced to prison for eight years on a rape case, along with a fine of Rs. 300,000 and a sum of Rs. 200,000 compensation for the victim.

A bench of Justice Shishir Raj Dhakal in the Kathmandu District Court (KDC) made the verdict, informed Bunu Bhandari, an advocate at the KDC.

As per the verdict, Lamichhane has been fined Rs. 300,000 and he has to provide a sum of Rs. 200,000 as compensation for the victim.

Earlier, on 29 December the Kathmandu district court found cricketer Lamichhane guilty of rape case.

Meanwhile, talking to media attorney of Lamichhane Saroj Krishna Ghimire expressed dissatisfaction over the verdict of the District Court and informed that they will knock the door of High Court for the justice to Lamichhane.
