First batch of 1,000 Nepali auxiliary workers to depart for Israel

Kathmandu / Feb. 13: The first group of 1,000 Nepali auxiliary workers, selected for the caregiver sector in Israel, is preparing to depart soon. The visa process for the first 100 workers has been successfully completed, with the remaining candidates advancing through the necessary procedures.

These workers, who will be employed in long-term care facilities such as geriatric homes and elderly care centres in Israel, were chosen through a transparent live lottery process conducted in August 2024 at the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) office in Jerusalem.

“Out of the 2,112 selected candidates, which includes 1,156 females and 956 males, the first batch is now ready to make the journey, while the remaining workers are expected to follow once the initial group has completed their process,” the Embassy of Israel in Nepal said in a press release on Thursday.

The workers will be sent to Israel as per the government-to-government (G2G) agreement signed between the two countries in 2020, followed by an implementation protocol in January 2021.
