Bhotekoshi Floods: Death toll climbs to 626; 2,426 missing; Chinese team mobilized to rescue people from Upper Trishuli 3B tunnel

Kathmandu / Aug. 29: Following the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa, 626 bodies of the missing have been found as of 10:00 am today.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 2,426 people are still out of contact.
Chinese team mobilized to rescue people from Upper Trishuli 3B tunnel
A six-member high technical expert team of the Chinese has been mobilized for the search and rescue of people trapped in the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli 3B hydro power project.
According to the secretariat of the Prime Minister, following the Nepal government’s permission, the Chinese team landed at the hydropower area directly from China and started the search and rescue in full coordination with the Nepali Army team.
The team will first examine the situation inside the tunnel using technology and when the safe rescue is found possible, another Chinese team of experts staying at Kyirong, near Rasuwagadhi, will be called up to join the rescue forces, said the PM’s secretariat.
