Government Decides to Table Federal Civil Service Bill in Parliament; Accepts $20.7 Million US Grant

Kathmandu / Sept. 29: The government has decided to table the Federal Civil Service Bill, aimed at amending and consolidating laws governing the federal civil service, in the Federal Parliament.

The decision was made by a Cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel said.

The Cabinet also decided to accept a $20.7 million grant from the US government to support improvements in Nepal’s health sector.

The meeting approved the use of national forest areas for the construction of the Kamala–Dhalkebar–Pathlaiya section of the East-West Highway, the Gazardi Khola Small Hydropower Project, and the 40-megawatt Balefi Khola Hydropower Project.

The Cabinet also approved the use of national forest areas for the construction of training academies, battalions and border security posts of the Armed Police Force, Nepal.

The meeting further approved the submission to the Federal Parliament of bills seeking to amend the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 (1998) and the Act Relating to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2074 (2017).

The Cabinet also made decisions regarding the promotion and posting of two senior government officials.

Joint Secretary Abha Shrestha Karki was promoted and appointed as the Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province.

Similarly, Dr. Jagadishwor Karmacharya, from the Nepal Engineering Service, was promoted and appointed as Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
