Jitiya festival fosters mutual respect, harmony: President Paudel

Kathmandu / Oct 3: President Ramchandra Paudel has said the Jitiya festival helps us foster mutual respect, harmony and unity in family.

It also contributes to love, respect and faith towards women, and protection and promotion of cultural originality.

Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Jitiya festival today, President Paudel extended best wishes to all Nepalis for the happiness, peace and prosperity. The festivals like Jitiya have also positive role in reinforcing diversity in Nepal, he reminded.

“The Jitiya festival is a major cultural festival observed especially by the Tharu and Madhesi women and those living in the Terai belt of Nepal. They pray for the longevity, good health, happiness, peace and prosperity of their children and family members and worship the Jimutvahan,” President Paudel explained, arguing that the celebration reflects a unique identity of Nepal, a country rich in multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious and multicultural diversity.

According to him, it is necessary to keep intact the integrity of such festivals. RSS
