Land administration services to reach all local levels within a month: PM Shah

Kathmandu / Nov 2: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has announced that land administration services will be expanded to all 753 local levels across the country within a month.

Taking to social media today, Prime Minister Shah asserted that the services, currently available at 33 local levels, would be extended to the remaining local levels within the next month.

The initiative aims to bring government services closer to citizens and spare them the need to travel long distances to access land-related services.

It may be noted that the incumbent government had already included the transfer of land administration services to local levels in its 100-point agenda for governance reforms.

According to PM Shah, the initiative is being implemented in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, the Local Government Operation Act, 2074 BS, and the Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Land, 2083 BS.

Shah stated that the government was accelerating the process to ensure that all remaining local levels begin providing these services within a month. T

”The federal government will also extend the necessary support to local governments to facilitate the transition,” the Head of the Government pledged in his post.

PM Shah wrote, “The core essence of the Federal Democratic Republic is to reduce the distance between the State and its citizens. Its ultimate goal is not for citizens to have to travel to distant offices to access state services and facilities, but rather to bring the necessary offices-and the services they provide-directly to the citizens.”

He was confident that that the initiative would enable local governments to fully exercise their constitutional and legal authority over land administration.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism of the government that the move would make land administration and surveying services more accessible, simplified and convenient for citizens by relaxing the legal provisions that limit rights to the centre. RSS
